They know the base brand standards but they miss out on brand campaigns, especially when a new character is being introduced and with no data to show that character’s success it’s hard to ask each vendor to update their efforts to include the new creative. Each specialize in their field and delivering on their promise, but most times they get left out of the campaign loop. So, how does this happen? Most times it’s due to the fragmenting of the marketing efforts between multiple vendors. Which, to me, was a missed opportunity to keep customers connected with him and with. He easily should have become an iconic character for the brand, but in the subsequent media like email, social media and on the web site itself he was missing. So Captain Obvious made his debut in television and right away the character name, the look and the personality were engaging and funny. ![]() That’s also how you can measure the effectiveness and success of the campaign by how that character connects and drives traffic for the brand. So it’s important to keep connecting the character with the brand. We’ve all done that, we remember the commercial but not who it is for. Why not? When people start to connect with a character and recognize its look and language they may not be making the connection to who they represent. ![]() This very clever character in a well produced television campaign has not been carried over into other media. I’ve been noticing that the Captain Obvious campaign for has allowed this to happen. Something I’ve seen many times over the years is when a brand overlooks an obvious opportunity to reinforce a campaign concept in multiple media outlets. When a brand doesn’t carry the campaign through each customer touchpoint it can be an obvious missed opportunity.

He and Frank Gari co-wrote the song "Beach Ball" and performed it with Darin, as the City Surfers, July 1963. He toured with singer Bobby Darin, and then moved to New York to work for Darin’s publishing company, in the fabled Brill Building as a songwriter. Within a few weeks of finishing high school, he was in California with the Limeliters, playing guitar and banjo on their album "Tonight: In Person." He then toured with the Chad Mitchell Trio and recorded on their albums: "Mighty Day on Campus" and “The Chad Mitchell Trio at the Bitter End.” McGuinn, a Chicago native, studied at the Old Town School of Folk Music and was active on Chicago's folk scene. Grabbing the embed codes and YouTube URLs I’m not sure why you’d prefer this to inviting them at the start of the Hangout (Figure 5), or by using the Invite people button shown in Figure 6, but there it is.įigure 9. Note that you can send the Google plus URL on top of the browser window to those you want to participate in the Hangout. If you want to avoid YouTube entirely after the event, of course, you can download the presentation video from YouTube, upload that to your website and display it directly within your own player.įor administration purposes, note that you get the embed codes/YouTube viewing page information by clicking Embed on the top left of Figure 1, which I’ve cut out for display as Figure 9. That said, for more permanent viewing, I’ll also create a page on my website with the embedded YouTube video. Though I recognize the distraction risks posed by Hovnanian, I feel the enhanced interactivity is key. What’s my take? As mentioned, I opted for the YouTube viewing page the first time around, which was the worst alternative, but will direct viewers to the Google+ page for subsequent broadcasts. In contrast, Hovnanian advises, both Google+ and YouTube may have too much distracting eye candy for many participants to resist, causing them to click away from your presentation. ![]() Viewers also trigger pageviews reflected in your analytics package. Other factors to consider when choosing where to send On Air viewers to watch the stream are detailed in an article entitled “ 6 Reasons to Use a Static Web Page for Your Google+ Hangout On Air.” To summarize author Stephan Hovnanian, if you direct users to watch the video in an embedded player on your website, you control distractions around the video, and can add niceties like a link to download the presentation. If you use your own comments function, consider disabling comment moderation (unless you have someone who can moderate during the session), and also CAPTCHA or similar security, as either of these hoops may discourage questions and comments and frustrate your users. If your website content management system has a comment function, you can advise your viewers to use this, though again, these won’t appear in the Hangout and you’ll have to watch the page separately. The embedded player gets neither option, it’s watch-only, so it offers the least opportunity to interact with the presentation. While you can obviously watch the page and respond to comments, it’s not as integrated into the overall experience. While YouTube viewers can use YouTube’s comments features to ask questions, these don’t appear in the Hangout, just on the YouTube page. The only viewers who get to ask questions are those that watch from the Google+ page. For viewers who like to interact, this is the optimum viewing experience.įigure 8. As mentioned above, the Q&A function that lets On Air viewers ask questions to Hangout participants only works when viewing on the Google+ page (Figure 6) not when viewing from a YouTube page or embedded page. ![]() The second factor to consider when determining where your viewers should watch the On Air broadcast is interactivity, which is often key to engagement. Pros and cons of the various Hangout On Air viewing alternatives. As a result, some registrants got the email, some didn’t, and attendance really suffered. Murphy's Law caught me on this one my plan was to send viewers to the YouTube page directly, and my email manager went down for “unscheduled maintenance” just after I sent the email about 25 minutes before the start. Overall, from a timing perspective, sending viewers to the specific YouTube page is the worst option, since you won’t know that URL until 30 minutes before the event. ![]() You have creative options to make this work.Make Your House a Showcase with Copper GuttersĪluminum and vinyl gutters are cheap, durable, and easy to install. Therefore, It is ridiculous to say that working and drafting proposed projects in short period of time would suffice them to pretend they know the processes, methods of design. Hence, my viewpoint, reinforced concrete design has been continuously studied for one hundred fifty (150) years and/or one and one half century already since it was invented by Joseph Monier in 1849 and patented in 1867. Since the mid-1950s, reinforced concrete design practice has made the transition from that based on elastic methods to the one based on strength. It influenced deeply from the Early Renaissance onward artist, thinkers and architects, engineers, among them Leonardo Da Vinci (1452-1519), Michelangelo (1475-1564). He wrote the textbook De Architectura libri decem (Ten books on Architecture), the only complete treatise on architecture to survive from classical antiquity. “The WORKMEN are in a HURRY, the UNEDUCATED rather than the educated are in HIGHER FAVOR” and “ARCHITECTURE and ENGINEERING are professed by men, who have no knowledge even of carpenter’s trade.” Vitruvius expressed his feelings and complained that: In his textbook, quite humbly titled “On the Origin of all Things”, Vitruvius held forth on the fundamental behavior of building materials, and then presented his views about the nature of theory versus practice, Vitruvius suggestion that design engineers should have more construction experience, and vice versa. He specifies 1 part lime to 3 parts pozzolana for cements use in buildings. For the use of structural members, he recommended pozzolana, which were volcanic sand from the sandlike beds of Puteoli, brownish-yellow-gray in color near Naples and reddish brown at Rome. In his writings around 25 BC in Ten Books on Architecture distinguished types of aggregate appropriate for the preparations of lime mortars. Marcus Vitruvius Pollio, Vitruvius, an Architect/Engineer during the golden age of Caesar Augustus (around 25 BC). and was not revived until eighteenth and nineteenth centuries (A. Although the Romans made cement – called Pozzolana – before Christ by mixing slaked lime with a volcanic ash from Mount Vesuvius and used it to make concrete for building, the art was lost during the Dark Ages 5th century -15th century A.D.
